Ethanol production has contributed to the revitaliztion of rural communities throughout the country. According to the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA), "New ethanol biorefineries, many of them owned by farmer's cooperatives, are revitialing small towns, providing new jobs, increasing farm income, and expanding the tax base".

Lone Wolf's first project is a 100-million gallon ethanol biorefinery located in the small farming community of Haxtun in Northeast Colorado. The plant will create 35-45 jobs for the town of Haxtun and will provide a healthy increase to the town's tax base.
